Course Objectives:
- Identify the causes of compassion fatigue and burnout, personal risk factors, and symptoms of compassion fatigue and burnout.
- Explain how compassion fatigue and burnout can impact an individual both personally and professionally.
- Distinguish between healthy vs. unhealthy caregiving.
- Identify the challenges of thwarting compassion fatigue and the strengths that enable the individual to minimize burnout.
- Identify the strategies to enhance resilience and make a healthy change.
About the Presenter
Fred Caldwell, MDiv, RBCC
Fred spent 20 years as a healthcare chaplain in hospitals in Ohio and Florida. During his time in the hospital, he worked with many families as they went through the organ and tissue donation process. After retiring as a chaplain, Fred joined LifeNet Health to work with partners and families who were part of the donation continuum. Fred is passionate about helping people through the bereavement process. When not working, Fred enjoys time with his wife, 5 children, and his new grandson. Fred lives in St Augustine.
