DNA Memorial, A New IFDF Member Benefit

What is DNA Memorial?

DNA MemorialIFDF and DNA Memorial, a DNA services brand of CG Labs, Inc., have entered into an agreement designating IFDF as the exclusive distributor of the DNA Memorial services and products to Florida’s independently owned funeral homes.

DNA Memorial is a DNA services company which has developed a proprietary method of extracting DNA from a non-invasive mouth swab or hair sample and binding the DNA to a substrate.  The process allows the DNA to be stored at room temperature indefinitely.  This breakthrough technology provides consumers the ability to “bank” their own (or deceased loved one’s) genetic record (DNA).

We are pleased that independent Florida funeral homes will be able to offer our DNA Memorial services and products to funeral consumers across the State of Florida.  All DNA is lost (destroyed) after cremation and it degrades severely after burial.  Saving DNA has never really mattered in the past but now family DNA has significant medical, genealogical and even sentimental value as a unique life code. Funeral directors are taking on the serious responsibility of offering families literally the final opportunity to preserve their deceased loved one’s genetic record.

“DNA Memorial is proud to be able to deliver this important service alongside the IFDF.” says Ryan Lehto, CEO of CG Labs, Inc. the parent company of DNA Memorial. This benchmark service provides an opportunity to enhance the image of the independent funeral home by reflecting the fact that funeral service is more than just the disposition of the body.

IFDF Member Services Director Ken Franklin says “IFDF continues to evaluate new and unique products and services which may benefit our independent funeral home owners.  As funeral consumers are making arrangements they should be educated and informed as to the significance of preserving personal DNA of loved ones.”
